Compensation


Starting Salary is $51,715.32 per year including paid holidays.

The Pagedale Police Department works 12 hour shifts using the Pitman Schedule (two-on, two-off; three-on, two-off; two-on, three-off) allowing for every other weekend off, rotating between day and night every 13 weeks.

Job Description


Police Officers will protect citizens by preventing crime; enforcing laws; apprehending suspects and monitoring traffic; to include, but not limited to;

  • Responds to calls for service, takes information, writes incident reports, and initiates course of action applicable to the situation;
  • Patrols assigned areas to deter criminal action;
  • Makes traffic stops and issues moving and non-moving violations;
  • Investigates crimes or complaints and makes custodial arrests;
  • Attends court hearings and testifies;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience


  • Must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application and a Missouri or Illinois resident at time of appointment;
  • No felony record or serious misdemeanor record;
  • Applicants must have reached their 21st birthday at the time of appointment;
  • Proof of successful completion of Basic Police Training from any Missouri POST approved training facility;
  • Applicants must meet the following education and/or work experience requirements:
    • A High School Diploma or GED is required.  An associate’s degree or 64 semester credit hours from an accredited university or college is desirable.
    • A graduate of, OR currently enrolled in, a Missouri POST Approved Basic Police Training Academy.  Preference is given for:
      • One (1) year prior police experience; or
      • Two (2) years of military service with an Honorable or Medical Discharge.  All "Other than Honorable" discharges will be reviewed on an individual basis.
  • Must hold a valid operator’s license from any state and have had no more than five (5) points charged against his/her driving record at time at the time of application.
  • Must possess a Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D license if a resident of Illinois at the time of appointment;
  • Must have no more than 20/200 in each eye, uncorrected; correctable to 20/20 in each eye.
  • Must not have any visible tattoos which may be deemed offensive by the general public.  The determination of offensive is solely at the discretion of the Chief of Police.

    • Copy of military service discharge, if applicable;
    • Copy of P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement training certificate OR if currently enrolled, proof of enrollment.

  • Psychological Evaluation (Only those selected for hire will be scheduled for evaluation)
  • Medical Evaluation (Only those selected for hire will be scheduled for evaluation)
  • All Probationary Officers must successfully complete a rigorous 240 hour Field Training Program, regardless of full-time or part-time status.  New hires with prior experience in law enforcement as well as re-hires may be allowed to complete a shortened Field Training Program of no less than 160 hours, at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
